The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
