In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of prohibited practices and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden cult.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who finish the adventure will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Update

This patch also adds the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
